Frequently Asked Questions
Q What makes Dr. Lee different from other dentists?
A Dr. Michael Lee provides personalized service that you’ll appreciate. When you visit our office, you’ll be treated like family –with respect. We want to earn your trust through excellent dental care and exceptional service.
Q Is snoring a reason for concern?
A Yes, it is. Snoring can be a symptom of sleep apnea, a condition in which the sufferer stops breathing for up to 10 seconds for multiple times a night. Sleep apnea has many side effects, including fatigue, moodiness, memory loss, stress, and increased risks of high blood pressure, strokes, and heart attacks. Many times, sleep apnea can be relieved with dental appliances that reposition the jaw and tongue. If you think you’re experiencing sleep apnea, call our office and make an appointment to discuss your symptoms. Dr. Lee can determine if you’re a good candidate for a custom-fit appliance to help you rest peacefully at night.
Q What is TMJ Disorder?
A Do you have headaches or earaches, feel a popping sensation in your jaw, or have a stiff neck and shoulders? If you’ve had any one of (or a combination of) these symptoms, you might have TMJ disorder. The temporomandibular joints (TMJ), located just in front of your ears, connect your jaw to your skull. These joints are extremely sensitive not only to your oral health, but to your overall health. When something is off, whether it’s your bite or the amount of stress you’re under, it can result in TMJ disorder. The good news is the symptoms of TMJ disorder can be alleviated with custom-fit appliances available through Dr. Lee. Call our office today and find out if a TMJ appliance might be right for you.
Q I need a mouthguard for athletics. Can Dr. Lee help?
A Absolutely. In fact, the athletic mouthguards available through Lee Dental Group are preferable to the packaged boil-and-bite mouthguards you find at the sporting goods stores. When you make an appointment for a mouthguard, we’ll have you come in for a quick impression that will be sent off to a dental lab. Your custom-fit mouthguard will then be fabricated and you’ll be able to pick it up at our office in just a few days.
Q Why is orthodontics important?
A Repositioning misaligned or “gapped” teeth into a proper bite is beneficial not only for your appearance, but your overall health and wellbeing too. In fact, chronic symptoms like headaches, neck pain, dizziness, and other symptoms of a misaligned jaw can be alleviated with proper orthodontic care. Q What are my options for teeth whitening?
A At Lee Dental Group, we offer both in-office and take-home whitening options for patients who want to erase dental stains and discoloration and achieve a brighter look. In-office whitening is often a good choice for patients who want to make changes fast. The treatment can improve the color of your smile by up to 10 shades in the span of an hour. Alternatively, take-home whitening is flexible and more gradual. We’ll provide the custom oral trays and high-grade whitening gel; patients simply wear them for a designated period of time each day, and within a few weeks, they should see stunning improvements.
Q Can I straighten my teeth without wearing braces?
A Yes. With porcelain veneers, you can have a straight and gorgeous smile without the hassle of braces. Following instructions from Dr. Lee, a talented ceramist will handcraft the veneers from durable materials that look and function like natural teeth. Before they are attached, you can look at their shape, color, and fit to ensure your satisfaction. Just make an appointment and we can begin to discuss the kind of smile you envision.
Q What are the benefits of dental implants?
A Dental implants provide patients with an alternative to bridges, partials, or full dentures. They look, feel, and function like natural teeth, allowing patients to eat a healthy diet of hard-to-chew foods. Implants may also improve speech, deter bone loss, and last a lifetime. Just make an appointment with Dr. Lee, and he can tell you whether you’re a candidate.
Q What are one-visit crowns?
A We understand the inconvenience patients face with traditional crowns, which is why we now use a revolutionary tool that mills a permanent crown in about an hour: CEREC. Backed with 20 years of research, our CEREC machine creates custom, metal-free crowns in record time so you can avoid a second dental visit and leave our office with a completely restored smile.
